Motivational Moment -

"Days Go By..."

Are still a whisper on my lips

A feeling at my fingertips

That’s pulling at my skin

Leave me when I’m at my worst

Feeling as if I’ve been cursed

Bitter cold within

Days go by and still I think of you

Days when I couldn’t live my life without you

Without you…

What rituals do you do to stay constantly connected to those who have passed?   Most people would probably say none.  If they do any specific rituals, few would publicly admit it.

Since 2001, I have had the unfortunate experience of attending many funerals of friends and family.  The one that changed my view on death was in mid-June 2005 after my friend and West Point classmate, Phil Esposito, was killed serving in Iraq.  As I said goodbye touching his casket, one of the last things I said was, “Phil, if there is anything that needs to be done…  If there is anything that needs to be said, please tell me.  Know I am here on this side and will visit.”

Now, when I go to funerals, I say that every time.  In my prayers, I’ve even gone back to all of the others to make the same offer.  Everyday, I do something to remember them.  I have created quite the network of friends and advisors who inform me through my conscience.

Life is eternal.  Love is enduring.  This is the primary insight from being “eternally connected” by spirit.  Through all the sadness, heartache, and grief from loss,  a new relationship forms.  One of the greatest feelings is knowing they are present in good times and in bad.

More on how to connect in the next section…

God Bless,

With 2 weeks left before race day, there is nothing to be gained by running long or hard.  All of the endurance work is complete.  We are in the process of healing and reinforcing skills that will ensure our success.

But there is still an opportunity for growth.  During your runs this week, think about your family and friends who have passed.  Talk with them.  Feel their presence through your conscience.  Open yourself to receive their messages.

I don’t know what you will experience or how it will come to you.  The way this works is that messages will be received in very unconventional ways.  The only common quality about it is that, when you’ve made contact, you will feel something that is good, right, and peaceful within your heart.

Here’s this week’s workout plan.  Give it a shot.

Monday:  Swim; Core Strength 1

Tuesday:  4 Mile Run; Core Strength 2

Wednesday:  6 Mile Run; Core Strength 1

Thursday:  3 Mile Run; Core Strength 2

Friday:  Swim; Long Stretch

Saturday: 8 Mile Run

Sunday:  Sports with Girls; Long Stretch

*Core Strength 1 focus on chin-ups, pushups, planks, lower back/abs

**Core Strength 2 focuses on squats, hip strengthening, and stretching

The Transformation Challenge

“You think you’re the only super hero in the world?

You’ve become part of a bigger universe.

You just don’t know it yet.”

You have reached the final milestone of the 2015 Hero’s Journey Challenge.  What about the marathon?  Oh, yeah…  That’s the celebration party.  This transformational challenge is the final step.

Make a list of every person you miss that have passed away and contact them through prayer.  Then, create very small, daily rituals that allow them to be ever-present in your life.

This act will introduce you to a much larger universe that makes the current world we live in seem very small and finite. If you do this for an extended period of time, you will receive “missions” through your conscience that you are uniquely qualified for to achieve.

You’ve taken quite the journey!  Now, be part of a bigger universe.  Protect the weak.  Inspire the young.  Work with others to address our most difficult challenges.  But, don’t expect this world to provide you all of the answers.  Instead, connect with everything around you.  Bring more good from there, here.

Hope you join us.
